XRP is trading without a clear fundamental catalyst, hovering near $1.10 after completing a golden cross signal on its four-hour chart. The MA 50 has crossed above the MA 200 on that timeframe — a traditionally bullish technical signal — but the setup arrives against a backdrop of unusually quiet XRPL network activity that has traders divided on whether it confirms a breakout or warns of stagnation.
What the Chart Says
The four-hour golden cross is a shorter-term signal compared to the more widely followed daily or weekly version, but traders are watching whether it translates into a sustained push. Key levels to watch: a close above the daily MA 50 at $1.16 would be the first meaningful short-term hurdle, followed by the daily MA 200 at $1.45. A move above $1.40 would mark the first stronger sign that XRP is breaking out of its broader ranging structure.
Buyers have been defending the $1.00–$1.05 range, which has served as key support in recent weeks. That level holding under pressure matters — it indicates accumulation interest at current prices even without a catalyst to drive the next leg.
Network Activity at Near-Historic Lows
The technical signal contrasts with XRPL on-chain metrics. According to Santiment, the XRP Ledger just saw only 25,350 active wallets — its second-lowest day of 2026 — while new wallet creation fell to 2,130, the lowest since November 2024.
"XRP Ledger activity has gone unusually quiet while price keeps ranging just below $1.10. The network just saw one of its lowest on-chain days in recent memory." — Santiment Intelligence
Santiment also noted that after late June saw a rise in dip-buying, traders may have shifted to waiting for a real catalyst before buying again — with the small bounce insufficient to restart conviction.
Reading the Divergence
The tension between a bullish chart signal and low on-chain activity is a common setup before significant moves in either direction. Low network activity can mean one of two things: genuine disengagement with token sitting dormant, or the calm before a catalyst-driven surge where holders simply aren't transacting because they are waiting. Without a definitive catalyst — regulatory clarity, institutional flow news, or a major protocol upgrade — the golden cross alone may not be enough to sustain a breakout.
