Securitize Integrates RLUSD — BlackRock and VanEck Fund Investors Get 24/7 On-Chain Liquidity

Securitize — the SEC- and FINRA-registered tokenization platform managing BlackRock's BUIDL and VanEck's VBILL — has enabled smart contract-based RLUSD redemptions, giving institutional fund investors instant liquidity via Ripple's dollar stablecoin around the clock.

What Securitize Built

Securitize, the SEC-registered transfer agent and tokenization platform that manages several of Wall Street's most prominent on-chain fund products, has integrated Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin as a redemption option for tokenized fund investors. The integration uses a smart contract mechanism that allows investors holding tokenized fund shares — such as BlackRock's BUIDL and VanEck's VBILL — to exchange those shares for RLUSD instantly, on-chain, without waiting for traditional settlement windows.

The significance of this integration extends beyond the technical detail. BUIDL and VBILL are not experimental products. They are institutionally issued, SEC-compliant tokenized representations of real-world money market and Treasury bill strategies. BlackRock's BUIDL, since launch in March 2024, has accumulated hundreds of millions in AUM from institutional investors. VanEck's VBILL is the firm's T-bill tokenization product in the same category.

Enabling RLUSD as the instant liquidity layer for these funds means that when institutional investors need to exit a position outside of traditional market hours — on weekends, evenings, or across time zones — they can now do so via an on-chain atomic swap into a federally compliant, dollar-pegged stablecoin. RLUSD settlement happens on the XRP Ledger, which closes every 3-4 seconds.

Why RLUSD Was Chosen

Securitize's choice of RLUSD over other major stablecoins — USDC, USDT, or PYUSD — reflects several factors specific to institutional compliance requirements. RLUSD is issued by Ripple and backed by U.S. dollar deposits and short-term Treasuries, with reserves held at regulated custodians. It operates on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, enabling cross-chain compatibility with Securitize's multi-chain fund infrastructure.

Ripple's regulatory trajectory also plays a role. Ripple received conditional OCC approval in December 2025 — part of the same batch that included Circle, Paxos, and BitGo. Its full MiCA CASP license for European operations was granted in June 2026. For Securitize, which is registered with the SEC and FINRA, aligning with a stablecoin issuer on a federal banking licensing pathway reduces counterparty compliance risk.

AI Agents and the Payments Rail

A secondary but notable dimension of RLUSD's expanding ecosystem: Ripple has begun building XRP payment rails for AI agent-to-agent transactions. As AI systems increasingly coordinate financial micro-transactions autonomously, a programmable stablecoin on a fast, low-cost settlement ledger becomes infrastructure rather than speculation.

The RLUSD thread in this context is about where real adoption shows up — not in partnership announcements, but in actual on-chain settlement volume. The Securitize integration creates a concrete, recurring use case: every institutional redemption from BUIDL or VBILL using the RLUSD path generates on-chain XRPL settlement activity. That is measurable and verifiable.
