Ripple USD (RLUSD) is now live across all four of South Korea's major licensed crypto exchanges — Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, and Korbit — completing the stablecoin's full entry into the world's deepest XRP retail market. Simultaneously, the x402 agentic payments layer built on XRPL is expanding, with RLUSD now natively supporting Mastercard's Verifiable Intent standard and aligning with Google's Agent Payments Protocol.

Korean Exchange Coverage Complete

According to a post on X by Jack McDonald on July 30, 2026: "RLUSD is now live across Korea's four largest exchanges. @Official_Upbit & @BithumbOfficial — Korea's two largest licensed exchanges — have added direct RLUSD trading, joining @CoinoneOfficial & @Korbit_exchange. Regulated, fully-reserved access for institutions and [retail]."

South Korea is a significant XRP market. Upbit's XRP/KRW pair has historically ranked as one of its highest-volume XRP trading pairs globally. Full RLUSD coverage across all four major Korean licensed exchanges gives the stablecoin broad retail and institutional reach in that market, with the backing of the same regulatory framework that governs the broader Korean crypto exchange sector.

x402 Agentic Payments: RLUSD as Infrastructure

The Korean exchange milestone arrived alongside a broader claim about RLUSD's positioning in agentic AI payments. According to Chandler Fang, cofounder of t54ai — a company building an agentic economy on the XRP Ledger — RLUSD natively supports x402 and mainstream agentic protocols by Google and Mastercard.

The x402 facilitator went live on the XRP Ledger in February 2026, allowing AI agents to pay for services using XRP and RLUSD without requiring API keys or accounts. As of July 25, 2026, t54.ai reported that over 1.4 million agentic transactions had settled through its x402 facilitator on XRPL.

Mastercard Verifiable Intent Standard

Agent payments on the XRP Ledger now support Mastercard's Verifiable Intent standard. According to t54.ai, developers can prove through the x402 Facilitator who authorized a payment, under what limits, and for which purchase — with Trustline screening it before settlement. They can also attach a Mastercard-aligned Verifiable Intent (VI) to x402 payments so every agent request is run through the XRPL Facilitator's risk service.

Verifiable Intent is a cryptographic proof carried alongside an x402 payment that answers three questions a risk engine needs before it trusts an autonomous payment: who authorized it, under what limits, and for exactly which transaction. It follows the Mastercard Agentic Payments / Verifiable Intent standard.

Ripple in the x402 Foundation

Ripple has joined the Linux Foundation's x402 Foundation alongside Visa, Mastercard, Google, Amazon Web Services, and 35 other organizations to build an open payment standard for AI agents and internet applications. Ripple also joined the ecosystem supporting Mastercard's Agent Pay for Machines (AP4M) initiative in June 2026.

In June 2026, Ripple launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit — a set of tools and integrations designed to help developers build agentic payment applications on the XRP Ledger. The launch included support for x402-powered payments using XRP and RLUSD, enabling AI agents to transact for APIs, compute, and other digital services.

Why the Combination Matters

The Korean listing and x402 traction address two different parts of RLUSD's growth problem simultaneously. The exchange listings give RLUSD distribution in the largest XRP retail market. The x402/agentic payment layer gives RLUSD a differentiated use case that competitors without native XRPL integration cannot easily replicate — stable-value settlement inside autonomous AI workflows, at the speed and cost structure XRPL provides.
