Ripple Launches Ripple Mint: Institutional RLUSD Access Goes Programmatic
Ripple's new platform gives institutions API-driven control over RLUSD issuance, redemption, cross-chain bridging, and lifecycle tracking — replacing manual workflows with webhook-enabled automation across five blockchain networks.
Ripple launched Ripple Mint on July 23, 2026 — a unified platform that gives institutional customers the ability to create, redeem, bridge, and track its dollar-backed RLUSD stablecoin through either a web dashboard or direct API integration. According to Ripple's official announcement, Ripple Mint is available to existing RLUSD customers immediately.
Until Ripple Mint, institutional access to RLUSD was managed through a primarily platform-based experience. Ripple acknowledged that approach "does not fully support the needs of institutions operating at scale, where automation, real-time visibility, and system integration are critical." Ripple Mint is designed to close that gap.
Two Access Modes: UI and API
Ripple Mint supports two distinct workflows:
- User interface access — for operational control and manual oversight through a web console
- Programmatic access — for automation and direct system-level integration via new APIs and webhooks
Through the programmatic layer, institutional customers can initiate minting and redemption workflows via API, query transaction status across the full lifecycle, access account balance information programmatically, and receive real-time webhook notifications for key lifecycle events. According to Ripple, those events include fiat receipt, mint processing, onchain settlement, and payout completion.
Each transaction stage is tracked through consistent reference IDs, giving institutions end-to-end visibility that spans both fiat and blockchain legs of a transaction. Ripple says this design is intended to reduce manual operational overhead for exchanges, market makers, fintechs, and institutional customers.
Multichain Expansion Anchored by XRPL EVM Sidechain
Ripple Mint's launch coincides with an expansion of RLUSD across additional blockchain networks. According to Ripple, RLUSD's multichain expansion is "being anchored by the XRPL EVM Sidechain," alongside launches on Base, Optimism, Ink, and Unichain.
RLUSD was initially issued on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum. The XRPL EVM Sidechain is positioned as central to this expansion strategy because it combines compatibility with existing Ethereum tooling while remaining connected to the XRP Ledger and broader XRP ecosystem. Ripple states this structure allows RLUSD to participate in the composability that has driven stablecoin adoption in DeFi and multichain finance, while keeping activity anchored to XRPL infrastructure.
Why This Matters for RLUSD's Institutional Trajectory
Stablecoin infrastructure has two distinct challenges: growing supply and generating actual transaction volume. A stablecoin that institutions can hold is not the same as one they run real workflows through. Ripple Mint is Ripple's attempt to close the second gap — building the operational layer that makes RLUSD usable in institutional systems, not just holdable on a balance sheet.
The programmatic API layer is particularly significant. Institutions at scale — prime brokerages, market makers, corporate treasuries — cannot operate through manual request workflows. The ability to trigger minting and redemption programmatically, receive webhook notifications on each settlement stage, and integrate RLUSD into existing back-office systems is what bridges from "we support RLUSD" to "we run RLUSD in production."
Ripple stated that over time, Ripple Mint will continue evolving into "a more comprehensive institutional access platform for stablecoin operations and liquidity management."
